Higher Wilson Fold Farm Habitat Bank Now Live in Bolton

We’re pleased to announce the launch of our latest habitat bank at Higher Wilson Fold Farm in Bolton.

Spanning approximately 20 hectares, this site has been historically managed as a mix of pastoral grassland and Christmas tree plantation, nestled within a wider rural landscape of pasture, woodland belts and reservoirs. With the West Pennine Moors just to the north, it has real ecological potential that GEDG is now unlocking.

Higher Wilson Fold Farm is registered as a BNG habitat bank under Bolton Council, sitting across two Natural Character Areas, 56 – Lancashire Coal Measures and 36 – Southern Pennines. The project will deliver meaningful biodiversity gains across grassland, woodland, scrub, wetland and hedgerow habitats, transforming a commercially managed site into a nature-rich landscape for the long term.
